Garden Club was very busy this quarter. In September, we worked with Green Apple volunteers to put fresh paint on the planters around the school and build new planters to better showcase our plants. We repaired rain barrels to help our club easily access water. We also installed new chalkboards to help the school better promote school events and make announcements to our parents. Our volunteers will return in the spring to help build fencing that will eventually help plants grow better in the courtyard! We also worked with the Patterson Park Neighborhood Association to plant planters alongside the school. These planters replaced the orange construction cones our school used to set out daily to prevent motorist from driving on the sidewalk before and after school. The planters are filled with native plants so the street looks more neighborly, less construction-y. Since cars driving on the sidewalk is both a neighborhood AND school concern, we loved to collaborating with PPNA on this project and look forward to working with them more over the school year!
